Tonight marks the first night we have pulled the covers on what we call Popularity Score. Popularity Score is a value derived from a combination of members votes, added to a percentage of the unique pageviews a review receives as determined by the ShareScore of the author. You will now find new values on reviews (and review summaries in search results) that display the pageviews and Popularity Score. You will also find new sorting and filtering options for both Popularity Score and Pageviews on all search results and profile pages. We have defaulted category only searches as well as profiles to sort by Popularity. The pageviews count on each review will be updated only a few times per day for now, but votes are still updated immediately and affect review popularity immediately.

These changes make ShareScore a more important aspect to life here at SharedReviews, and we have made some adjustments to ShareScore increases and decreases to be more in line with how things were before the hiatus. This means negative activity such as spamming friend requests and placing irrelevant comments on reviews in order to garner votes will negatively impact you. We’ve tightened things up so much, some of our top ShareScore performers in the community may find it a struggle to achieve and maintain 100%. This is not something to be concerned over, I don’t think anyone is perfect at anything (that includes me!), so 100% should be an ideal but not something easily achieved or maintained.

You will see more changes over the next few days, such as some homepage changes and forum cleanup. We will also be completing another major comment cleanup soon. I’ve updated the UserGuide on both ShareScore as well as how to Earn on SharedReviews to reflect some of these changes. More updates will be coming soon!
