In the last 7 months (plus Beta), we have collected almost 30,000 reviews on everything from baby seats to iPods and shared over $64,000 with what has become a loyal, caring, and active community of authors who have shared their intimate product experiences and built lasting relationships. Now that September has ended, it marks a temporary fork-in-the-road for revenue-sharing at SharedReviews. Essentially, we are putting the current program on hold until such time as we are able to catch up on the enormous growth in content, and thus community-earned revenues generated in the last 4 months. We will pay out all outstanding amounts to members, and continue to grow the revenue as fast as possible so we can re-instate the program soon.

What’s Next?

Earning opportunities still abound! The monthly cycle of voting and publishing continues, but with a few twists that will make things much more fun. We are introducing a number of exciting performance-based “races” that will conclude at the end of each monthly cycle. This means that that we will be awarding cash prizes to the 1st through 5th place leaders in “Number of Reviews Written”, “Number of Votes Cast”, and “Number of Votes Received” during each monthly cycle. We will be making some changes to the Home Page of SharedReviews to provide better tracking for the leaders in each of these races. Also, we will sprinkle twelve (12) random and completely silly contests throughout the month (three per week) that we will spring on unknowing community members. The prizes will be cash amounts paid that day for completely random activities and behavior that foster the true spirit of what it means to be a SharedReviewer.

So, what are the New Rules?

Well, for one we lifted almost all of the voting restrictions in the system. This includes separating historical votes from this temporary hiatus, so not only can you vote for any review that you’ve voted for in the past, but any votes during the hiatus will not be counted towards voting on those reviews again when we re-instate the revenue sharing program. Secondly, we’ve more than quadrupled allowed votes per category, and raised monthly vote maximums to exceed those category restrictions so you may now vote as little or as much as you want.

What Else is New?

It has been apparent since SharedReviews.com went live that we had a unique community, one made up of generous, helpful, considerate and loyal members. The way everyone jumps in to help, interact, and show support for each other with almost no conflict is what sets SR apart from other forums and communities. Well, one of the big changes is that we have opened up the Forum for the whole world to read about our unique community, and get a sense of how our members have contributed to making us one of the best communities online.

In addition to this, SharedReviews will be announcing our new Bounty system. We have been working on a trial program which will offer our authors a means to earn money by completing extracurricular writing opportunities on a per assignment basis. For members that have proven themselves within the community and out, this will be a way to earn far more than they’ve ever seen at SharedReviews in the past. We’ll post more details about how members can apply for participation in the trials within the next week.

As a Final Note

I know most of our members understand the position we are in, and will continue to support us in creating the best pay for content community site that exists online. It has been one of the most amazing experiences this founder has ever had in working with all of our members this last year, and I wanted to share a personal thank you from the bottom of my heart for changing my life the way all of you have.
